Martin Lewis Hello Martin. Thanks for all the guidance at the moment. I have trawled through but cannot find this...has the chancellor been specifically asked if those of us who took maternity (as self employed) during the 2016-2019 time get any leeway i.e. including 2019-2020?

We face risk every time we get out of bed. Alcohol, smoking, bad food, cars - there are plenty of things we live with that can do us harm. We can't hide from the danger Coronavirus poses forever, we have to learn to mitigate those risks so life can continue.

There have been 1,580,078 global cases of Covid in which there’s been clear outcome. 265,657 died (17%). But, a figure not often given β€” 1,314,421 β€” recovered and discharged (83%). Among those with Covid under 60 the recovery rate is well into the 90%s.

"Be sensible... What do you want? A full handbook to tell you what to do?" Plumber Ryan Price says the government guidance on returning to work is clear enough for the public.

The sharp reduction of people being diagnosed with cancer is terrifying. Cancer hasn't taken the month off. Every day people will have developed cancer and be ignoring symptoms. This is my most important message: If you have any persistent symptoms - ring your GP.

We are seeing a dramatic collapse in new infections. Just over two weeks ago the daily figure was 6111, we're now seeing it drop below 2500. Some very encouraging reports coming from London too where a tiny number of new cases are being recorded. Really good news.

Interesting to read Government scientists estimate the average chance of catching the virus has dropped from 1 in 40 to 1 in 1,000. A big difference. Keeping distance, maintaining good hand hygiene and following the rules are crucial to keeping these odds low.

I've had some heartbreaking messages from people who are too scared to get symptoms checked. If you listen to just one of my tweets let it be this one. If you have any symptoms- losing weight unexpectedly, blood in urine/poo, abdominal pains, unusual lumps. Please get checked.

School age children are more likely to be hit by lightning than die of Coronavirus. Good stat from Sarah Knapton 🐳 and Christopher HopeπŸ“. We need to make it safe for teachers, but we have to get education moving again. It's the poorest children who are losing out the most.

I can honestly say in all of my decades treating cancer I have never been as worried as I am now. The figures are staggering. Patients have been delayed by 11 weeks - cancer spread is inevitable. We're moving from one crisis to another. More needs to be done.

Here's another look at the countries that eased their lockdowns first, almost two months ago now. Cases reported yesterday: Denmark - 15 Norway - 18 Austria - 26 Czech Republic - 73 Remarkable stats. How is this happening? Something is going on that we don't fully understand.

I urge everyone to read this excellent document from PHE. It's their weekly surveillance report - superbly constructed. Lots of useful graphs and figures assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/upl…

No encouragement from the PM for people to get symptoms of cancer checked or seek medical help for other illnesses, so I'll try. Unusual lumps, unexplained weight loss, any persistent symptoms please get it checked. Cancer and other illnesses are just as deadly as before.
