The Equal Rights Coalition conference kicks off with strong The Commonwealth Equality Network representation on the opening panel. It isn’t only #LGBTI rights under threat - it’s democracy, human rights, & fundamental freedoms.

Why are #LGBTI+ rights included in attacks on democracy, like in Georgia? They’re a wedge issue - used by Russia to divide countries, sow distrust in democracy, & destabilise institutions. It’s about chaos, not necessarily the LGBTI+ community. Chaos weakens countries.

The Anti-LGBTQ law of #Ghana can proceed through parliament. The proposed law is insidious & one of the harshest of any country. It criminalise *identifying* as #LGBTI+, for expressing that, for advocating for rights, and denies gender affirming care.
