It’s an honor & privilege to don my white coat as I begin my MD-PhD training. In the last 60 YEARS, only ~200 black men have pursued & finished a MD-PhD. Knowing I will join their ranks one day is a blessing & I’m so thankful to God & my Village that got me here! 👌🏾👨🏾‍⚕️🩺

Yesterday, JCI insight pubbed our study examining MD-PhD program acceptance & how it varies by demographics & research experience. 1st-gen, Black or reapplying applicants were less likely to be accepted, regardless of research experience & publications. insight.jci.org/articles/view/…

APSA's recent JCI insight publication shows MD-PhD acceptance correlates with research experience/publications, yet first-gen, Black, and re-applicants were less likely to be accepted regardless of research background. insight.jci.org/articles/view/… #DoubleDocs #MedTwitter

1/n) Excited to share our new preprint: Using high-res live embryo imaging we show that transcription factor hubs are localized to new genes when specific DNA binding is perturbed. Hub interaction kinetics at these new sites determine factor occupancy: biorxiv.org/content/10.110…
