Amazing improvements to the school run at St Martins, my local school, with many more kids (and us parents!) now able to walk🚶 cycle 🚲or scoot 🛴 to school 🙂

Guernsey can breathe a sigh of relief that the States voted against introducing school fines. "If pupils repeatedly refuse to go to school because of anxiety or bullying, fining their parents won’t solve the problem" thetimes.co.uk/article/were-f…

Time to stabilise & reappraise the direction our secondary education education is headed. Moving the sixth-form centre is an expensive mistake that we just can't afford to make. guernseypress.com/news/2023/10/1…

I have nominated Charles Parkinson for the president of P&R, the island needs a change & to start work now on preparing the ground for the next States after the 2025 election.

Not sure if this is a "keep smiling anyway" style message, but ESC has had a pretty disastrous time. Compounded by the committee's decisions to cling on to their mediocre system that would entrench division between state & independent education.

Wow, great decision from Lyndon & P&R! As one of the two HSC members (along with Tina Bury) to oppose ruining the PEH's green setting, I'm very happy to see this unpopular madcap housing scheme finally put out to pasture!

At the Channel Islands Coop meeting, a fair turnout, but could have been more. I voted against the changes, which as I'm glad Peter John "Rufus" Roffey ppinted out, were clearly aimed at making the Co Op more corporate and less member run. Demutualisation by the back door.

At the launch of a new charity "At Home in Guernsey" aimed at homelessness. Backed by The Guernsey Community Foundation and with support and funding from Specsavers. The housing crisis makes this a more pressing issue than people realise. Housing Strategy will help but urgent action needed too.
