John Aldridge painted 'Sunbathers on the Beach,' in 1962 when he was still teaching at the Slade. A close friend of the poet John Betjeman, they often holidayed together, Aldridge preferring Italy or France, Betjeman choosing Aldeburgh, Southwold or Felixstowe.
