In #Day4 of #SomosEscritoras we learned about trailblazing Latinas in STEM, became inspired by the advocacy of #JovitaIdar in education&journalism,visited incredible murals in the dept. of MAS&Latino/x Studies UT Austin ,&ended the day writing our Name Stories. Somos Escritoras/We Are Writers

We have a great group of Lockhart ISD educators attending our June #ESLacademy, further adding to their teacher tool belt to support our EBs. I sincerely enjoyed hearing their understanding, experience, enthusiasm,&conversations around language concepts today in #Day1! ESC Region 13

This is an important time to stand up for language education. Teachers of multilingual learners, or English learners, in our nation are important. Every teacher is a language teacher, and every student is a language learner. Language is in every classroom. Language is an asset.

Billions of dollars in federal funding to support education is being held hostage. This money was expected by states and schools to provide education for all learners including services for English learners. The call to action: contact your state representatives and congress.

Feeling hopeful & empowered after facilitating #Day1 of #ESLacademy. We dove into language theory & the foundations of language. We had rich conversations around the material, including our own classroom experiences & the EBs we support. #CreateSpace4Multilingualism

I absolutely ❤️ #Day2 of #ESLacademy b/c the focus is on learning styles, language standards,&strategies that best support EBs at each language domain& at the EBs level of proficiency. Being able 2 have our educators engage in those activities themselves&together is top tier! 🫶🏽

Completed #Day3 of #ESLacademy discussing the laws, systems,& processes in place that ensure that EBs are protected, properly assessed, & their needs are addressed in the classroom. We also discussed the importance of celebrating #acculturation thru #CommunityCulturalWealth 🌎❤️
