Today, Tristan proudly remembers its WWII contribution. In 1942, Tristan became home to a top-secret station - HMS Atlantic Isle. Its mission to monitor U-boats in the South Atlantic. 16 islanders formed the Tristan Defence Volunteers #VJDay80 #TristandaCunha #WWII

To commemorate VJ Day and the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War, members of the Governor’s Office, with Dive St Helena, carried out a memorial dive to the deck of the RFA Darkdale in unison with a wreath laying memorial service at the Jamestown Cenotaph. #VJDay
