In the Netherlands, they've used bus stop bypasses for decades. This is partially why the Dutch cycle 1,108km a year and the English cycle 97km a year. The data on bus stop bypass safety is clear, which is why anti-bus stop bypass campaigners ignore it.

A rare "OMG" moment in climate news. The EU cut its greenhouse gas emissions by 8.3% last year. That's almost as much as it fell in the pandemic. But with stable (okay stagnant) GDP and renewable energy doing the heavy lifting. Story by Federica Di Sario pro.politico.eu/news/188619

One type of comment on renewables I get frequently is from people who show primary energy demand. They say “We will never be able to replace this with renewable energy.” I tend to differ. Here’s why.👇 medium.com/@jan.rosenow/h…

In honor of congestion pricing taking effect today, here's a map I made of Manhattan commute patterns—85% of people who work in the borough commute by public transit, walking, or biking (and the share is even higher for workers in the congestion relief zone south of 60th)

The Palisades Fire moved in so quickly, evacuees panicked. Every car represents someone or a family that, in fear, abandoned their cars, and fled on foot. The wind could reach 100 mph tonight.

Last month, I took the long-distance trains (XPT/Inter City 125) from Melbourne to Sydney and then back to Brisbane after attending the #ATRF2024 conference. It was okay, but it would have been even better if the trains were faster, had Wi-Fi, and didn’t require coach transfers.

I just finished "Paved Paradise" by Henry Grabar, and boy does it have some gems. Lots of the solutions to our urban woes are already being put in place - look at Austin - but this should be read by every city council across America. My favorite quotes can be found here. 🧵
