+1 to this tip, and I’ll add my own: Choose a character to serve as a prefix to activate a bunch of replacements that might otherwise be noisy. I use ‘!’.

This is a great set of guidelines as well as mental models that go a long way towards making designs accessible to everyone across all languages at the same level of attention-to-detail. TL;DR Tip: Don’t design in English and expect it to magically scale!
