Taught a lesson today that went so so well I had to evidence it (made me so happy) Sharing amounts in a given ratio. Students just seemed to ‘get’ it. Loved drawing on tables and using counters. #maths #mathschat #mathscpdchat

Had such a lovely weekend at the Future Teaching Scholars National Conference. It was an honour to deliver my first CPD session as an FTS Alumni on negative numbers. Thank you so much to Future Teaching Scholars for this opportunity and for all your support. I met so many amazing people.

Today I was reminded of my growing collection of 44 completion tables. Check them out here if you've never seen them before. mathsbot.com/tableMenu

Y8 are still struggling with compound area, especially with subtraction. Today I made them write a plan without numbers before they were allowed to do any calculations. It worked pretty well - I need to do this sort of thing more often.

In Year 12 Maths today, we were sketching quadratics and finding equations from graphs using these ✨new resources✨. Answers corrected after the students spotted a couple of mistakes! draustinmaths.com/a-level #mathsresources #mathschat #mathscpdchat

Before you blindly rearrange, factorise then solve, it might be better to slow down and ask yourself: "What do you notice?" mathsbot.com/cpd

Direct instruction is joyful & leads pupils to success. Here is a *clip* where I use high frequency & high participation questioning in 3 phases: 1. Check for listening 2. Rehearsal 3. Check for understanding Established routines: all hands up, turn & talk, SLANT & ruler reading

Some congruency questions with Year 11 this afternoon which really tested their skills; really pleased to see how they could remember how to apply angles in parallel lines, properties of shapes and circle theorems - all in one question!

Do your students see the equals sign to mean "the answer"? Does this cause issues in your algebra teaching? At @drfrostmaths, we're using balances to enhance students' understanding of equality, providing a solid foundation before formal algebra. Stay tuned for more! #MathsToday

Created this resource to help my Year 11s with their approach to the last question of a Higher paper. Idea is from goalfreeproblems.blogspot.com , worked answers and videos from mathsgenie.co.uk/papers.php. Made each question a goal free problem: dropbox.com/scl/fo/73vd8sr… Jo Morgan
