I spoke with Aaron Mesmer FOX 13 FOX 13 Tampa Bay about the horrific case out of Plant City where a man is accused of murdering a family of 4 by setting fire to their home. The defendant will be in first appearance court today. Our thoughts are with those loved ones the victims left behind.

When you sell drugs containing #fentanyl & it results in someone's death- you will be held accountable in Hillsborough County. We have the tools to charge dealers with 1st degree murder. Anthony Mansfield will now spend life in prison. We must fight this fentanyl crisis together.

When you drive impaired & cause a death, we will hold you accountable. This defendant was denied bond because our prosecutors argued he is a danger to our community. This isn't his first time driving impaired. People must face consequences for this type of preventable tragedy.

Today I joined our law enforcement partners & local farmers to talk about cracking down on agricultural crimes, including saw palmetto berry theft. A new law now makes stealing or selling them without a permit a felony punishable by up to 5 years in prison.

Deondre Smith, 16, will spend 25 years in prison after he was found guilty of attempted murder. This lengthy sentence should send a strong message to teenagers who think their age protects them from consequences when it comes to gun violence in Hillsborough County.

I added resources to our office's Gun Violence Unit because we must do our part to fight this senseless behavior in our community. When you commit an act of gun violence in Hillsborough County, you will face consequences on my watch.

This defendant made a calculated decision to brutally stab and kill two innocent people. In one of the murders, a 5-year-old child witnessed things no grown adult should see. We will stand by the victims' families as we fight for justice together.
