Tuesday was week one of three for students at Blake High School who are participating in our Shielding Our Teens program, which prepares students as they work towards gaining summer employment. This year, more than 300 students are participating.

On this day in 1941, Detective Lester Henley was attempting to arrest a suspect involved in an auto theft, when he was fatally shot.

Detective Henley, your service will never be forgotten. We honor you today and always.

Work zones can be particularly dangerous not only for drivers, but for workers as well. Help keep our roads and workers safe by slowing down, eliminating distractions behind the wheel, and being cognizant of workers, their equipment and their vehicles.

Congratulations to April's Employee of the Month, Senior Grant Analyst Nilda Otero!

Responsible for applying and managing a variety of grants, as well as overseeing preparations of grant audits, Nilda's knowledge, positive attitude, and work ethic have proven to be invaluable.

Around 7:20 p.m. last night, officers rescued 5 out of 6 ducklings who were reunited with their mother. Although momma duck didn't seem to miss her sixth baby, before the end of their shift, officers returned to the location and successfully rescued the last duckling.

Congrats to Det Tyler Shue, our Officer of the Month!

In two unrelated cases, with limited leads & persistent efforts Det. Shue was able to identify the suspects involved and take them into custody. His efforts brought closure to the victims and made our community safer.
