After a legislative session in which Senate Republicans continually failed to deliver for the people of Wisconsin, today's veto-overrides were a sad, desperate attempt of self-preservation.

While Wisconsinites face the dire consequences of PFAS contamination and hospital closures, Republican lawmakers choose to evade their responsibility to act. It's time for them to prioritize the well-being of our state over partisan interests.

Children in Milwaukee have been suffering from toxic lead for years, so I'm used to WI Republicans ignoring my community, but I'm actually shocked that they seem to be just fine with letting their own constituents continue to drink poisoned water.

Republicans have refused to release:
- $125 million to combat PFAS statewide for 3️⃣0️⃣6️⃣ days
- $15 million to support Western Wisconsin after recent hospital closures for 6️⃣8️⃣ days

I'm AGAIN calling a special meeting to urge Republicans to do the right thing for Wisconsin.

When I received the Medal of Freedom from President Biden, all I could think about was my parents.

All the sacrifices they made put me in a position where I could do my part to help further our pursuit of a more perfect union.

Despite the lack of leadership from my Republican counterparts, my democratic colleagues & I will continue to work for the people of Wisconsin.

Tomorrow morning at 9:30 am--we'll all get to see if JFC Republicans are willing to show up and do their jobs for the people of this state, or if they will continue to block $125 million in PFAS relief funds in order to protect their polluter pals.

One behalf of our Caucus, State Senator Dianne H. Hesselbein sent a letter to Republican Leadership, urging them to schedule bipartisan proposals that have already passed the State Assembly for a vote in the Senate.

No surprise: Republicans took no action and have already left work for the year.

Today is the last general-business floor period for the State Senate & is the last chance for the Senate to take action on unfinished business.

Nearly 11 months since Sen. Kelda Roys warned the PFAS trust fund was imaginary without JFC GOP approval. Our colleagues are still living in pure imagination. No remediation for Wisconsinites if Republicans refuse to provide the DNR with resources to serve the people.

Wisconsinites deserve local access to healthcare, it's time to get to work. Two hospitals and 19 clinics have closed in western Wisconsin, and Republicans on JFC have still not scheduled a meeting to release the money.
