We're supporting plastic removal from the ocean in September through our Climategames challenge and we're setting you a lengthy swim challenge. Can you cover 50km in the month? 💙 buff.ly/4ajssVC

Who'd have thought when I started a magazine in 2011 that I'd win a copy of it in 2024? At least I got nice trophy too. p.s. Go Swim Loch Lomond is a great event in a lovely place.

Is it OK to encourage people to take part in potentially dangerous activities (if you believe the benefits outweigh the risks?) climategames.com/post/open-wate… Here's something I wrote for Climategames on this.

Over the summer at the University of Exeter we have been working to understand whether swimming in #sewage polluted rivers and lakes across the UK 🇬🇧 is linked to a higher risk of carrying antibiotic-resistant bacteria🦠💊relative to people who do not swim. This is the last batch of

Two big events this weekend: The Gribbin Swimrun and Dart 10k. Every race has a similar pattern: 1. This is great. I could swim/run at this pace all day. 2. No I can't. 3. Nearly there. I've got this. 4. No I haven't. 5. Yes I have. 6. This is the longest mile ever. 7. At last!

Today's swim tip: don't assume you can't swim well if you're tired & have just eaten a heavy meal. Due to not paying attention I didn't know we had a 6k race after lunch and after a 5k race this morning at UltraSwim33.3. I raced hard, ate too much, and somehow raced again.

Pretty happy with this considering I failed to finish at my previous two attempts. I still haven't got to the bottom of what made me ill before but I suspect not wearing a wetsuit and swimming in 26 degree water helped.
