A very warm welcome to the Mayor of Ankawa, Mr. Ramy Noori Syawish, as he engages in fruitful discussions and fosters ties between Kurdistan Regional Government and the United States. Ankawa is home to many Christians living in Erbil and remains a vibrant symbol of diversity and coexistence.

We condemn the attack on Khor Mor gas field, which provides electricity to the public in the Kurdistan Region. Our condolences to the families of those killed, and we wish the injured speedy recovery. We welcome investigation to identify and bring the attackers to justice.

Today marks the 50th anniversary of the brutal attack on innocent civilians in #Qaladiza and University of #Sulaimani in 1974 — a calculated assault by the Ba’ath regime to eradicate the peaceful people of Kurdistan. Honoring all the lost lives and the resilience of survivors.

50 years ago today, the Ba'ath regime bombarded Qaladze, killing and wounding hundreds and forever changing the city.

They also shot at peaceful protestors who commemorated the attack in 1982.

The martyrs will never be forgotten; their sacrifices are part of our nation’s story.

Had a fruitful meeting with DAS Victoria Taylor and colleagues U.S. State Dept - Near Eastern Affairs. We discussed recent developments and continued cooperation on issues of mutual interest.

Accompanied Iraqi Prime Minister محمد شياع السوداني in a meeting with the US President Joe Biden. Discussed future economic, military and energy ties between USA-Iraq, plus other pressing matters, stressing the crucial need for regional stability.

Visited KRG-USA and had a meeting with the staff. We discussed the current challenges and dynamics in the region and globally, highlighting the strong relationship between the USA and KRI. I commended the team's hard work and dedication to serving the diaspora community.

At the 77th Annual Gala Dinner of Middle East Institute, I had the pleasure of catching up with old friends, MEI Board Chairman Gen. John Abizaid, David Welch, Francis J. Ricciardone, Matthew Zais and more.
