I spoke with His Majesty King Abdullah II of Jordan today about the situation in the Middle East. We agreed to remain in touch over the coming days as we continue to monitor the situation. We also discussed our efforts to increase critical humanitarian assistance to Gaza.

The U.S. is committed to Israel's defense. Following Iran's unprecedented attack against Israel, we have been coordinating a diplomatic response to seek to prevent escalation.

We condemn the killings of 14-year-old Israeli Binyamin Achimair and two Palestinians, 25-year-old Jihad Abu Aliya and 17-year-old Omar Ahmad Abdulghani Hamed, in the West Bank in recent days. This violence must stop, and civilians must be protected.
