My heart goes out to these 2 Montbello High Schools students hit by a driver in a hit and run today. We need to adequately fund our safe routes to schools program so all neighborhoods in Denver have safe ways for kids to walk to and from school.

The Montbello Organizing Committee has been shouting for safety improvements in their community for years. This corridor was identified as the #1 priority corridor of the Montbello Loop to improve pedestrian and bicycle safety and this preventable crash emphasizes this need.

Don't look away from the engineering of this road, from the policy decisions & systemic conditions that have resulted, predictably, in homelessness, sidewalklessness, & death. Our Land Use+Transportation policies are intimately linked. We can start changing these💔outcomes TODAY.

If safety comes first, prioritize building a connected and protected bike network. A helmet won’t do a dang thing to save my life if I’m hit by a driver because I don’t have a safe, protected place to ride.

No, road diets don't slow emergency responders. That's the conclusion of this new study from Iowa, which found "no difference in emergency response" before and after road diet implementation. doi.org/10.1016/j.trip…

It’s actually crazy to me how many people it seems there are out there whose #1 political issue is blocking their city from building safe bike infrastructure
