The 24-hour rule: Enjoy success or grieve the loss, but soon after get back to the craft. You can celebrate or be upset after, but when you wake up the next morning, it's time to move on. Basking in the glory or wallowing in the pain for too long lead to negative outcomes.

Too many people get this whole “Zone 2” thing wrong. Very wrong I thought we were beating up the phrase too much many years ago Now, every wannabe health coach is screaming it, too. And most of them have absolutely no clue what they’re talking about. Even many docs selling

I tell anyone who says "I hate running/jogging" that they are going too fast Be able to have a full conversation. If that requires walking, then that's where you're at. When people recommend zone 2 training for general population, for most it should mean go on a walk

What Netflix’s SPRINT demonstrates wonderfully: there are many different mental approaches to get to the top. Some are quiet. Others loud. Some want calm or fun. Others want to rip your head off. Don’t mimic others. Find what works for you. Develop those skills.

It's not about impressive workouts. It's about stacking week after week, month after month, of good solid hard work. Give me months on end of solid consistent work over some lights out workouts, any day.

So much information on the Algerian Boxer. Let's clear up the mess in this thread. 1. They are NOT trans 2. The The IBA says she failed eligibility to compete as a female. We do not know test specifics. 3. If this is accurate, she is likely DSD (intersex). What does this mean?

One mistake endurance athletes often make: Your training priorities should change! There is no magical distribution Sometimes you need to do more threshold, other times more speed work. Training priorities should vary based on goals of that period and time of the year.

Carbs are driving a significant part of the performance revolution in endurance sports. And I don’t think the primary driver is race-day fueling. Instead, I think the biggest benefit comes from recovery and adaptation. Here’s the type of hypothetical that I like to propose to

The world's best cyclist isn't testing his VO2max frequently... Maybe, Joe, the regular exerciser who listens to way too many podcasts, should learn something here...

The US needs better policies around food. We need our environments to promote/allow for activity. We need to keep pushing for better nutrition programs in schools. We need less vaccine skepticism so we don't have measles outbreaks But we didn't get that in the hearing.

I don’t really do endorsements. I’m not shy about sharing my views, but I hate politics and don’t trust most politicians. I also understand that people want to hear from me because I am not just a celebrity, I am a former Republican Governor. My time as Governor taught me to

This is so important... as I've said for a long time now. Strength training alone is not enough... yes, we lose some strength- but it's "easy" to maintain. It's the loss of power and balance that is a much bigger problem. The loss is more noticeable... and likely to be far more

Zone 2 and 5 get all the hype. But the truth is...if you aren't spending some time in every zone at some point...you're missing out on easy adaptations. And...you need to explore both the high and low end of every zone because the adaptations will differ.

Tip for novice runners: You don't need a gel/gatorade for your 5k or 10k race. It's doing nothing except maybe giving you GI issues. Energy intake isn't a limiter until we get close to 2hr+ of racing For ~60-90min, it can via modulating perception of effort, but not needed.

Motivation, excellence, achievement, and so on are complicated. But... an obsession over achievement pushes most of us towards the wrong kind of motivation, moving us from want to to have to... and our performance and well-being suffers.
