@senrobportman Even after the horrific massacre of 19 children and two teachers at a Texas elementary school two weeks ago, House Republicans refused to vote for a bill to enact common-sense gun safety measures to protect all Americans this week.

Think about this –– teachers will need 180 hours to renew their teaching license so they can teach your kids, but only up to 24 hours of training to carry a gun around them. That is insane.

Maybe if Florida respected trained professional educators and their judgement instead of banning books, selecting what history is taught or not, threatening legal action against school districts, and making LGBTQ teachers feel like pariahs, there wouldn’t be a teacher shortage.🤷🏻‍♀️
