Every time I update my agent with a new feature I ask Claude to update its own memory file so I can pick up in the terminal where I left off. Do I need to do this?

Claude Code just taught me something about my own API usage after I ran out of credits FAST. I’d set thinking.type=enabled which forces extended reasoning on every single request. Switching to thinking.type=adaptive lets Claude decide when deep reasoning is actually needed.
