New MEPS #FeatureArticle A population comparison of right whale body condition, measured using drone photogrammetry, reveals poor state of North Atlantic right whales. A reduction of human-induced stressors is urgently needed to save them from extinction. bit.ly/meps_640_1

Special delivery! Lots of #whales have #stranded in Norway recently. Samples have arrived at the #toxicology lab at @UniNMBU to be analysed for #pollutants πŸ€“πŸ‘©β€πŸ”¬ We used our favourite method to keep cold during delivery - frozen peas! Cheap, effective & makes a great soup 😜😁

Watch out narwhals! As the #Arctic warms and sea ice disappears in #Nunavut, a new study University of Manitoba says a population of 136-190 #killerwhales is eating as many as 1,500 #narwhals every summerβ€”or more than Inuit hunters can take in a year #climatechange nunatsiaq.com/stories/articl…

Important new study propose that whale watching guidelines should be based on noise levels rather than distance alone. Well done Kate Sprogis @SimoneVidesen and Peter T Madsen

Exciting work w/ Dr. KC Bierlich - we just finished >12,500 #morphometric measurements for 275 individual #Antarctic #humpback #whales! Drones + #MorphoMetriX made it possible to easily & non-invasively obtain measurements from such a large sample size. #opensource #drones4good

Spent the last few weeks camped on Peak Island with the Qld Turtle Monitoring Program. The Peak Island flatback nesting population has been monitored by Dr. Col Limpus since the 80s, so it was a real privilege to be invited to contribute to this very groovy longterm data set!🐒
