Despite the news today as I had already said to everybody before , I’ll make decision about my future after the last game . Now my sole focus is to win the EL with Arsenal .

1. Only the most optimistic May supporter could tonight imagine they will be able to turn back a growing tide of opposition to their plan and grab some kind of victory

2. V likely tmrw there will be a swell of calls for the PM not to put the bill forward, maybe even to quit before it’s tabled and voted on (likely vote day is fri 7th June, not end of next week which slipped out in error on Ten, losing track of the days, apols!)

3. But senior govt figure tonight absolutely adamant vote on the bill will happen, suggesting some Labour MPs are privately making positive noises

4. Million miles from believing they can in any way be sure they will get their way, but also a million miles from giving up - view is if it fails, at least she goes down fighting having compromised and tried to do the right thing

5. True also though that even some ministers and cabinet sources questioning the merit of more time ‘toxifying’ the landscape the next PM will inherit - I ll bet there’s going to be ugly debate about this in next few days
