There’s something special about a mandatory wellness lecture

I got cardioverted by an intern and lived to tell the tale.

So far on this rotation I’ve gotten to independently manage more patients than any other rotation, respond to a call with an EMS physician from the hospital, and, now, fly on a helicopter (which was really cool!). By far the best experience of med school so far!

The hardest part for me on inpatient medicine is getting to know the patients, and then having to pronounce them only a day or two later. This latest one has felt particularly devastating - he passed without his family at bedside.

For most of my life, I was told I was “mature” for my age, mostly because I never expressed myself or demonstrated who I was. Turns out that’s just cause the world wouldn’t let me be who I am. So happy that time is gone

Learning there’s a whole community of people like me has been so enlightening. I’m so happy to be a part of the trans community and can’t wait to help others like me!

Since I came out as trans, I look back at the games when I played female characters fondly. I just picked SWTOR back up after 8 years and sure enough, seems like I was living the life I couldn’t live in my own skin

First shift back tonight after three months off! So thankful for the amazing support from Baystate Emergency Medicine for allowing me time off for recovering properly after bottom surgery. I can’t wait to see my colleagues and take care of patients again! #transdoc

Being trans is the best worst thing that’s ever happened to me Or the worst best thing? Idk. Being trans sucks, but being yourself is so absolutely amazing

Sometimes despite out awesome a day starts out, it doesn’t end anywhere close to that.

So excited to be a part of this team helping those in the community like me!

Moving from the world of being a (pseudo?) cishet white dude to recognize I’m trans and coming out as a trans woman has opened my eyes to so much of the discrimination I was so blinded to in the past, and I know I’m only barely scratching the surface of what so many experience

Some days up, some days down. Find what makes the up days good, and do what you can to bring them to the down days

Being a part of this study was so wonderful to help my queer community, and I hope my colleagues in medicine take these results and quotes and recognize that this is a problem not just for our patients, but even for those of us who are physicians.
