As we enter a new year, Hebrews 3:15 reminds us: “Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion.”

What has the Holy Spirit been trying to tell you? How might He be comforting or convicting you if you would only have the ears to hear? Oh Father, help us to listen and obey, to trust and to love.

Thinking about Judas lately. About how Jesus knew what Judas would do and still taught him. Prayed for him. Loved him. How? Because Jesus lived out his sermons: he loved his enemies and prayed for those who persecuted him. Feels impossible, but we are called to do the same.

1/ Observation: Over the past 2 days alot of people having posting on Twitter to ask (somewhat rhetorically) "What happened to Eric Metaxas, he's become so unhinged?" The truth is that nothing *happened* to Eric. He simply took off the mask he'd word for years.

Jonathan Edwards also ministered in churches where the wealthy sat in spacious high-walled family owned pew boxes while the poor and those of low social status were crammed in at the back of the church.

I think maybe we’d all be happier people if we made more fun of ourselves and less fun of others. Self importance is a heavy heavy burden.

I mean, I just don’t think we’re going to stand before God on the great day & hear him say, you did such a fabulous job of publicly humiliating heretics. Those pictures were hilarious! Those quotes were the perfect burn! Get in here & let me hug your neck & hang a medal on it.

if every woman agrees to potty train their son to sit while peeing, we can completely eradicate pee covered public toilets within 2 generations. let that sink in.

How peculiar to hear you name called from the grave To step out into the sun squinting To see the confusion & disbelief To reek of rot & death... Could it be true? Oh, take of the grave clothes That which held you while you fell apart. I Am holds you now. Rise up, Lazarus.

Eph 5:21: Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ. Some folks: sure, but that only applies to wives, because husbands are "head" like Christ, & Christ *rules/leads* the Church. Jesus (Mt 20:28): …just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve…

Faith is not merely mental accent. Faith is behaving in a way that visibly demonstrates that what Jesus said is true. "Seeing their faith, Jesus told the paralytic, “Son, your sins are forgiven.” Mark 2:5 CSB

All I want is the fun parts of writing, without any of the existential dread, self-doubt, or driving three places to find a book to verify something you reference one time in a footnote.

“The politicians are controlling our Christianity, instead of being controlled by it.” - Tayler Lewis, a 19th c biblical scholar, on how clergy and congregants were encouraged to dehumanize slaves. And a uncomfortably relevant word today.
