Have spoken today with an insider at Glasgow's Sandyford Gender Services, and they have condemned the #CassReport as 'woefully lacking context and detail for many of the studies that it chose to include in its evaluation.' 1/

As the Cass review is published, my thoughts are with the trans community.

Young trans people already face huge barriers to healthcare, including years-long waiting lists.

Their health and wellbeing should not be a front in a toxic culture war.

The #CassReport has a number of significant methodological flaws in how it approaches evidence, and the ideological drive behind it

I cannot stress enough how much I want more research to be conducted in sexual & gender minority health - but this cannot be used to withhold care

The Cass Review set inappropriate arbitrary criteria for data in order to exclude any evidence which showed positive outcomes for trans people accessing trans healthcare

This project had a predetermined, transphobic outcome. Politicians need to scrutinise, not lap up bad science

Worth remembering that last year Scottish Labour blocked Matt Kerr from standing in Glasgow South West, where he missed out being elected by 60 votes in 2017, because he wasn’t a “high quality candidate” — a threshold Wilma Brown apparently met.
