It's great to see radio recognised as a way to support #mentalhealth and #wellbeing. So many broadcasters (large and small) keep our communities connected and informed, not just in times of crisis but every day. ab.co/3FPWqSF via ABC Australia

Come and work at Everymind! Lots of great projects. Fringe benefits: two whales and a pod of dolphins splashing just off the beach across the road when I arrived at work this morning.

Happy World Radio Day. In Australia, radio is an incredibly important point of connection and community, especially for those in areas underserved by other services, including media. Take time to switch on today and listen local. unesco.org/en/days/world-…

New guidelines for language use are for more than just those communicating publically about mental health concerns, suicide & AOD. Also for researchers, service providers, policy makers and anyone else who engages with people experiencing distress. The words we use do matter.

The deaths of two alleged killers, oceans apart, are big headlines this weekend. A reminder to Aus media that prominent, ongoing & sensationalised reporting of suspected suicides, particularly stories that detail method/location, can impact communities.
