@ICJ just recognised that the horror in Gaza plausibly constitutes genocide. A CEASEFIRE is the only sure way to fully abide by the Court's provisional measures to halt this horror. Third States should now work to achieve it & avoid breaching their obligation to prevent genocide.
So the US can instantly cut off funds for UNRWA’s life-saving work in Gaza based on unproven allegations against a tiny handful of its employees but won’t stop arming & funding an Israeli military that the highest court in the world says is possibly committing genocide. Got it.
Incredible. The BBC just led their news with an 8 minute long segment on the unevidenced allegations of UNRWA staff involvement with Hamas. Far greater coverage than they gave to the ICJ interim ruling that Israel is plausibly committing genocide. The BBC is an utter disgrace.
Today we launch “Against Silence,” a series of new writing in translation by Palestinian authors in Palestine and the diaspora. Read Lena Khalaf Tuffaha لينا خلف تفاحة’s introductory essay, on the “unnecessarily fraught” history of Palestinian writing in English, here: buff.ly/4803IQ1
