Australia doesn’t need to bet the grid on experimental inverter tech. We already have gas (Narrabri + Newcastle), coal, and uranium. A logical path: ⚙️ Keep reliable coal units for system strength 🔥 Add gas + synchronous condensers for inertia 🔋 Trial grid-forming batteries,

We subsidise ‘cheap energy’ with $150M of taxpayer cash… to a foreign-owned company from a country with power 3× cheaper than ours — and which builds an Australia-sized coal fleet every single year. Some conundrum.

AI doesn’t run on code. It runs on turbines, gas fields, and pipelines. Everyone wants GW-scale AI. Very few are honest about what actually powers it. So let’s connect the dots — machines → fuel → geography 👇 ⸻ What you’re looking at The images above show a single ~1 GW

Renewables Can’t Do It — It’s Physics. AI Just Exposed Australia’s Energy Myth. At Davos, Vimal Kapur, Honeywell CEO, didn’t argue ideology. He argued physics. AI needs continuous, dispatchable power — 24/7, no gaps, no volatility. That’s not something intermittent renewables

Looks like SA is heading for something like three hours of pricing near the cap of $20,300/MWh this evening. Still, hot, sun down. Batteries are fading. Usually, these prices get hit for a couple of 5min intervals at a time. This is gonna hurt.

Very glad to have collaborated with Robert on this piece in the The Australian. I'll come back tomorrow with some more details on the numbers. TLDR: Estimates of transmission costs have proven worse than useless. The few precedents we have suggest a disaster ahead.
