My unified theory of why road-blocking protests get people so heated

Car drivers have been sold the idea of total autonomy, but they also KNOW they’re at the mercy of traffic and obstructions

You can’t just turn a car and “go around” like a bike, yes, the confinement is scary!

The dissonance between “I can go wherever I want whenever I want just like in the Dodge commercial”

And

“A few people can completely halt my movement (whether protestors or even a car crash)”

Causes short circuiting and blood fury

The whole idea of car-based freedom is impossible.

The dream of the car commercial is just YOU in your fast car and NOBODY else on the roads

It literally can’t exist for everyone!

Rage at road-blocking protestors is really just years of pent-up rage at being stuck in traffic, only now given an external target

Drivers can’t REALLY get mad at traffic- because they ARE traffic! It hurts them to think about this so they don’t!!
