Preview dinner at the new Stock Market Grill Stock Exchange Hotel - including native oysters, steak tartare with beef fat yolk, Scottish langoustines and ex dairy Fresian rib eye steak

I went to the press launch of the Stock Market Grill at Stock Exchange Hotel last night. Classical cooking of the finest produce, served with capable warmth in one of the city's grandest rooms. I think the Schofield Brothers and James could be on to something special here.

On a related note Stock Market Grill comes a week after Higher Ground's launch and just a few short months after the opening of Climat. I can't remember the time we had three such strong openings in such quick succession. Mancunian dining is on an absolute roll at the moment.

Loved talking to Joe and Daniel Schofield about initial challenges, investing in staff, finding the right venues and taking over “one of the best dining rooms in the city” at Stock Exchange Hotel for a Better Business feature in The Caterer magazine this week

I suspect this is one the best value lunches in town. I had the superb steak tartare and doubled up with a nigh-on perfect steak frites. £25. A steal for this quality. Stock Market Grill at the Stock Exchange Hotel is a kitchen in it's groove.

Best bar in the UK? We've all known this for some time, but it's Schofield's Bar in Manchester.
