@educationnottax

We are a non-party-political group of hardworking parents concerned that Labour's planned school fee VAT will force children to leave schools they know & love.

"The Etons and Harrows and those super fancy places, they'll be fine." This morning, James Price joined Nick Ferrari on LBC to discuss the concerning proposal to impose VAT on private schools.

Mad policy. Fair enough to remove charitable status from any schools which donā€™t do any charitable educational work. But the vast majority do. And the others canā€™t afford it. And UK Independent schooling is a huge export & global attraction for the wealth creators we need.

Luke Sibieta Maxwell Marlow šŸ‡ŗšŸ‡¦ Luke Sibieta your 3-7% scenario was based on thin, old, sparse evidence, as you wrote. Hard, new and detailed evidence is coming thick and fast. Should government take account of facts? Or stick to what you observed from the 1990s, and in America? 9/ independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-nā€¦

YES! Many families are making choices due to the 20% tax on school feesā€”disrupting their kids education, changing jobs, taking on larger mortgages, or going into debt. Itā€™s time to drop the stereotypes and listen to parents about the reality theyā€™re facing. #EducationNotTaxation

Another scheme funded by VAT on school fees! The list of promises just keeps growing. With no impact assessment and uncertain revenue, are parentsā€™ school choices Labourā€™s new 'magic money tree'? Will state schools even benefit? #EducationNotTaxation The Labour Party Damian Hinds

The VAT on school fees policy is riddled with uncertainties, risking school closures, and burdening state schools. With potential revenue overestimated and a lack of clear impact assessments, it's time for a serious rethink @uklabour #EducationNotTaxation kroll.com/en/insights/puā€¦

Private Education Policy Forum Education Not Taxation The Independent It's awful for social mobility (1) fewer bursaries (2) what's left of private school gets even more exclusive (3) more pressure on preferred state schools (4) less per-pupil resources / more overcrowding in state schools generally.

This morning, the ENT campaign submitted our petition to Keir Starmer at UK Prime Minister on behalf of 200k+ signatories (and 600k children) against The Labour Party's plans to tax school fees. We urge Labour to meet with us to understand the effects this will have. #FindaBetterWay.

.House of Lords as a #parent concerned about Labour Party #Vat on #PrivateSchools ! I am not alone - listen in to who all have turned up to listen to #LordLexden leading the debate on the issue. More importantly why have they tuned up on a grey-wet day like this ? Why we feel so

David Wooding Bridget Phillipson Music lessons to remain VAT-free in state schools, but VATable in the very schools that already save the taxpayer Ā£8-12k a year? And the privately-funded talent pipeline into our greatest cultural assets, which taxpayers subsidise to heaven and back? VATable too. Bonkers.
