It is that time of year when I teach Thucydides and sigh and ponder over Melos, just as I did as a freshman in Dean Dawsey's Western Traditions class. I've probably read the Melian Dialogue a hundred times since, to tutor and teach, and it still moves me every time.

Freshman advising should probably be renamed "sending emails repeating what previous emails already said to freshman while mumbling under your breath a little bit." Grin.

I just finished Oscar Wilde's 1891 "The Young King"... what a beautiful, moving fairy tale. Look it up if you haven't read it.

Went and saw the first movie I've seen in ages and ages today on the BIG SCREEN. The Marvels was absolutely wonderful. Take a little break and check it out, if you like a good Marvel movie. You nerd. Okay, back to the end of the semester grind.
