Last year I wrote this piece about my grandad, who fled from fascism & arrived in Britain as a refugee in 1938. It's one reason I'm running the Great Run to raise funds for Action Foundation🧡, which supports refugees & asylum seekers in the North East today. 1/2 actionfoundation.org.uk/my-grandad-was…

Few people wrote on the vexed issue of Kashmir with sagacity and scholarship like AG Noorani. From law to Islam, RSS to Ayodhya, Noorani was a commentator and analyst whose touchstone was, as it should be for all right thinking Indians: the CONSTITUTION. RIP sir.

'Tax the Loafer - not the Loaf'. Great poster from 1909 that I saw recently at Manchester's People's History Museum. Produced in rather different times by the Budget League (W. Churchill et al) to back David Lloyd George's landmark progressive & redistributive 'People's Budget'.

How was this not given as a wicket?! The Australian batsman, Josh Ingles, claimed he wasn't ready. Looks pretty bloody ready at the point of delivery! Scotland's Mark Watt denied the wicket. bbc.co.uk/sport/cricket/…

The gambit, presumably, is to find a community with whom the cancelled - in this case a vile predator - can reclaim the attention and approbation he craves. Talk about 'born again'!
