I keep hearing that heat pumps are a niche technology and will never take off. Look at the market share of heat pumps in different European countries - in 8 countries most new heating systems installed are now heat pumps.

🔴 NEW 🔴 British Gas has been given under the radar access to the COP29 climate summit. Bizarrely, its CEO and head of public affairs are registered as representatives of a small African NGO. 📝 My DeSmog scoop from Baku desmog.com/2024/11/16/bri…

I always thought that industry had limited electrification potential. How wrong I was: Once we looked into it in more detail we found that the potential for industrial electrification is huge. 90% of industrial process heat could be electrified in Europe by 2035. That is

Great summary from ⁦James Murray⁩ on the results rolling in from Baku - developing countries leave with pledge to triple climate finance from developed countries but everyone knows this is not enough to prevent climate catastrophe businessgreen.com/news/4382153/c…

A step change: The International Energy Agency (IEA) predicts that in 2030, variable renewables account for 2/3 of global renewable electricity generation, rising from less than 45% today. Solar becomes the number one source of renewable electricity generation.

🧵As the Government unveils plans to boost clean power, worth noting how much public sentiment has shifted to seeing clean energy not just as good, but as a no-brainer. All voter groups (inc Reform) are more likely to think renewables will cut cost of living than raise it

I’m very aware people think the threat of climate change is hysterical and overblown. But then there’s this. This is fact. A graph from the University of Reading. Does this look okay to you?

When David Cameron and George Osborne ‘cut the green crap’ there were 50,000 energy efficiency installers in GB - now there are less than 10,000. Most companies collapsed and the work force has never recovered. Rebuilding this work force is hard. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

Amazing new paper shows how the 2022 jump in oil & gas prices delivered $916b extra to Big Oil - almost all captured by Big Oil's backers Society as a whole received almost zero benefit and was, on average, impoverished: inequality worsened across the board
