Let's make it clear: living on the streets is not a ‘lifestyle choice’ - it is a sign of failed government policy. No one should be punished for being homeless. Criminalising people for sleeping in tents, and making it an offence for charities to help them, is unacceptable.

Sleeping on the streets is NOT a lifestyle choice. We don’t have nearly enough affordable homes, rents are soaring and this is leaving people destitute and forced to sleep rough. This is a consequence of poverty. And poverty in this country has been exacerbated by policy choices

Following the Supreme Court’s ruling that plans to send people seeking asylum to Rwanda while their claims are processed are unlawful, our charities are calling on the UK Government to reconsider their approach and ensure all children arriving in the UK are safe and protected.

A beautiful encapsulation of two completely different schools of rhetoric. And two very different ages of American politics separated by only a couple of years. The Rest Is Politics

Today’s Budget announcement wasn’t good enough. We’re happy to see the Household Support Fund extended, but this still leaves many facing a cliff-edge in September. We wrote to the Chancellor with Joseph Rowntree Foundation The Children's Society @TrussellTrust & 120 others orgs about this in February.

Ending the two-child limit ‘sibling penalty’ on benefit payments would immediately lift 250,000 children out of poverty. We urge all political parties to make this a top priority. bit.ly/4aB3j8e

Doesn’t take someone who has devoted their career to facilitating volunteering, and engaging / supporting volunteers to point this out, but here it goes: Volunteering is voluntary…
