New butterfly for me today at a new site close to Pinoso - Spanish Festoon. Also found 6 Spectacled Warblers there (4 males singing) which are very scarce in the Alicante region. A very happy chap ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿฝ #butterfly #butterflies #insects

Popped out to see the Sparrowhawk nest, thought I swing by to see if any Peregrines were about. Yup. Mrs Peregrine busy munching on pigeon.

Epidendrum ulei, probably the most abundant orchid on the summit of Mount Roraima. It can grow both in bogs or on rocks, and can be over one metre tall. #floraofvenezuela #epidendrum #roraima #ๅง”ๅ†…็‘žๆ‹‰ๆค็‰ฉ #็ฝ—่ต–้ฉฌๅฑฑ #ๆ ‘ๅ…ฐ

Really a very adorable bird to find and especially to listen to. Often sings from thickets near water, worth trying to get a quick look at. Peter will have been extra cautious taking these lovely shots as lingering too long for photo or good view may put it off nesting there.

Beautiful Belle ๐ŸฆŒ๐Ÿ˜ Yesterday at an area I call Six Cross Roads, it's where a numbered of deer paths cross. Over the years it's proved a successful spot to film ๐ŸฆŒ Probably under 2 weeks until she gives birth ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿคž #RoeDeerDiary #deer #BBCSpringwatch #trailcameras

A singing Spectacled Warbler near Pinoso. Only found in a few places in the Alicante region and usually tricky to find. This new site I found has several males on territory. Very smart looking warblers. #birds #birdoftheday #birdsseenin2026 #birdphotography #naturephotography

Guiding at Titchwell on Monday morning. Nice to catch up with the two Black Terns, one of my favourite spring migrants, although they were always rather distant, out over the Freshmarsh and the Reedbed Pool. In contrast, this Crane flew right over our heads!

Have you ever seen this? ๐Ÿ˜ƒ๐Ÿ’š I took this pic this morning ๐Ÿ˜ƒ While they might seem like opportunistic scavengers at the seaside, their mating rituals involve complex communication and long-term commitment.

A beauty! This European Goldfinch was singing away, showing off that beautiful red face in the sunshine. Not a bird I see often, so itโ€™s always nice to catch up with them. Happy Friday โค๏ธ

Nice to stumble across a healthy patch of Goldilocks Buttercup (Ranunculus auricomus) on a wander south of the Tyne today. A wee early for this week's #wildflowerhour challenge ๐Ÿ™‚
