A GOD among filmmakers has left us. Innovated shoe-string budget cinema, elevated the exploitation genre to an art, & gave countless movie makers their start. And produced my favorite film EVER, the original “Death Race 2000”. There will never be another. #RIPRogerCorman

What a treat to stay up late and watch Jools Holland and David Sanborn host “Sunday Night” on NBC. David Sanborn always got in there to mix it up with the AMAZING variety of musical guests they brought on EVERY episode! I am forever grateful, Mr. Sanborn. #RIPDavidSanborn

Agreed. 1000%. Tim Conway always OWNED Harvey Korman in the Carol Burnett Show… and it was ALWAYS such a treat to see Korman’s straight-guy break! THIS is the QUINTESSENTIAL example of it! ❤️❤️❤️

We lost a giant among actors today. Donald Sutherland imbued every performance with a rare combination of earnestness & quiet intensity. From Hawkeye to John Klute, his presence drew your eye & insisted that you invest in the rich characters he created. #RIPDonaldSutherland

First Fred Willard, now Martin Mull. The couch is officially empty. Mull was the epitome of lovable swarm & sarcasm. And the late great Norman Lear’s“Fernwood Tonight” was the ideal vehicle to showcase it. SO much of my early TV comedy appreciation owes it to him. #RIPMartinMull

She had her challenges toward the end, but Shelley Duvall’s body of work (film & television) was wide, varied, & impressive. Most noteworthy for me are her “Faerie Tale Theater”series & (a sentimental favorite) her performance as Olive Oil in Altman’s “Popeye”. #RIPShelleyDuvall

This one hurts BAD. I count Bob Newhart as one of the most important comedy icons in American history. No hyperbole. The original “Bob Newhart Show” is one of my favorites ever. His dry wit & impeccable comic timing have never been matched (& will likely never be). #RIPBobNewhart

Growing up, I was watching Donahue while my friends watched Marmaduke! Before every other afternoon talk show host, there was Phil Donahue. A liberal firebrand, sharp wit, & engaging personality, he was a true television pioneer. And I named my old cat after him! #RIPPhilDonahue

He was an engaging and gifted actor. But I think, without exaggeration, there may be no cinematic voice more INSTANTLY and more RECOGNIZABLY linked to a character than that of James Earl Jones’s and Darth Vader. Ever. #RIPJamesEarlJones

Teri Garr was one of my formative celebrity crushes growing up. Fun, silly, cute, and clever…with a sly sensuality. A lot of great roles, but one of my favorites is her turn as the mom in “First Born” - an unapologetic guilty pleasure! #RIPTeriGarr
