Farewell to Ephrem Tesfaye! After a decade of dedication in setting up the Independent Regulatory Board of the Eastern Africa Power Pool, he now heads to Kampala as the IRB Director of Economic Regulation. EAPP proudly celebrates his contributions & wishes him success in this next chapter!



#ESIUpdates Hon Okaasai Opolot- MINISTER OF STATE FOR ENERGY, representing Uganda signed a Memoradum of Understanding with Tanzania for the development of the 39MW Nshongezi Hydropower Project. We were pleased to host a team from World Bank Energy Women in Energy Network-Africa, who are driving women's participation in the energy & power sector. EAPP looks forward to supporting this cause as a strategic partner, bringing the gender agenda to all member utilities & partners.





It has been a long day for our Council of Ministers & the resolutions reflect their hard labour: ratified market rules, IRB launched & Uganda passed on the Chair's baton to Egypt! Deep gratitude to Ministry of Energy & Mineral Development & UETCL for graciously hosting the 32nd SC & 20th COM meetings!




The EAPP SG and delegates were hosted in Cairo by the new EAPP Steering Committee Chair, Eng. Gaber Desouki, Chairman of الشركة القابضة لكهرباء مصر, for a consultation meeting. Talks focused on key issues around Market, Operations, and Planning for the EAPP.




EAPP SG & team are in Japan for #TICAD9 through invitation by JICA - Japan International Cooperation Agency. Africa power pools toured technical sites, gaining key insights on Japan’s energy infrastructure, regional trasmission operations & power markets.
