I received a load of these today on my desk😍 It totally made my week, and reminded me that the good work we are doing has never been more important than now; a time when the students need us most! #edutwitter

A Y7 student with ASD came up to me and said “Thank you for the lesson I really like history at big school, my sheets you make really help me to work out what my opinion is”. This lad is almost mute, and bar questioning, we have never spoken before. That made my week! #edutwitter

One student can throw a lesson out - it is not a reflection of you if this happens, it is how you react to it! Think about their ‘leaving’ outcomes, and then reroute the lesson towards consolidating one key element, rather than plowing on with the original plan.

Apprehension about returning in January is eased a lot by reading a few of the cards I got from students - at least one for every year group!😍 #edutwitter

Times have been very hard since February as I was instructed to continue shielding as CEV and to teach online😓 I have been reading what #edutwitter has been posting and it has massively kept me going, so thank you to everyone I follow. I CANNOT WAIT to get back in after Easter👏🏼

A very insightful and thought provoking story. I highly recommend to all colleagues who teach Holocaust education to take inspiration from the UCL materials #GRTHM2021

I cannot wait to lead the CPD at Calder on our journey to becoming a UCL Beacon School. I’m so glad I applied on behalf of the school. I can’t wait to see the development in our Holocaust education using the world-class expertise of UCL!

Absolutely fantastic CPD session last night with Helen McCord. Colleagues found it incredibly valuable. I would highly recommend any colleagues at other schools applying to be a Beacon School.

I am very proud of the efforts of student and staff leading up to #HMD2022 at The Calder Learning Trust. We are launching our art exhibition and memorial sculpture this week, and half our students have received their Holocaust assembly. Looking forward to welcoming @CWhittaker_MP

After nationalists destroyed the old one, the Jewish Synagogue in Munich was rebuilt with stone from Jerusalem. Absolutely amazing, and shows that hate and intolerance never prevails. Holocaust Education Helen McCord

Such an emotional returning visit today to the Topography of Terror in Berlin. I have acquired lots of materials/sources to be integrated into our SoL as a Holocaust Education Beacon School. I would highly recommend a visit for anyone who teaches this challenging field of history.

I cannot wait to see the wonderful work they do at MEA. On behalf of the Calder Learning Trust, we are very much looking forward to sharing our practice!

I am so proud to be a Head of History at an outstanding school from January…I can’t wait to start and get stuck in! In the meantime my focus remains on my current positions. It’s such a hard decision to move on when you really love working in your current school. Mixed emotions!

CPD with Holocaust Education is unbelievably valuable for teachers and HoDs on evidence-based Holocaust Education. I would HIGHLY recommend it to all colleagues.
