Learning my son was ADHD & dyslexic was devastating. Terms comorbid and co-occurrence describe when multiple diagnoses occur at the same time. I was surprised to learn that ADHD and dyslexia often co-occur and that many kids with ADHD have other learning differences.

What I learned today. Children with ADHD have substantially worse social skills than other children. They can become off-putting to their peers. The nonstop activity, impulsive actions, and hyperactive or combined types of ADHD are obvious sources of annoyance to peers.

In regards to my last post. Do the Unified School Districts (USD) believe in this? Are regular K-12 teachers trained in this? Have you ever heard of a Behavioral Teacher? Does USD have classes or faculty to help?

It feels like my son’s teacher doesn’t understand how dyslexia & ADHD works. During our parent meeting she told me that he is still behind in vocabulary & math problems really.....

I wanted to say do you remember our IEP meeting? His test showed he is Dyslexic and we found out after Christmas Break!!!! What do you expect!!!!
