you cannot cite ‘immigrant’ as a valid exclusion to refuse basic healthcare. allowing the state to turn hateful convictions into policy is myopic. one day, even your south africanness will not make the cut b/c right wing policies will be formulated to exclude something about you.

Miss Status Quo Every country in the world has foreigners. Foreigners are not the problem and will never be. The problem in South Africa is the incompetent and corrupt government

Healthcare is a human right, not a privilege tied to a passport. Denying it based on migrant status is not only cruel, it’s a betrayal of our shared humanity and universal values. No one should suffer or die because borders are valued more than people’s lives. We can be better.

Today its migrants. Tomorrow its people with disabilities “costing too much.” After that, it’s poor people from other provinces or tribal differences, used to justify who gets care and who doesn’t. This is how societies slide into dehumanisation, 1 “justified” exclusion at a time

This is how fascists get voted into power, when democratic order leaders fail so spectacularly and people's frustrations are met with silence. There's a minister whose campaign was anti immigration until he had to dial the notch up and it became anti Xhosa's in Coloured areas.

Bazobuya. Their countries are poor. Where were you in grade 6 when we learnt about push factors on migration in social sciences. Welele nani crammer inkinga yenu.

Yabona Enoch Godongwana National Treasury SA Reserve Bank Lesetja Kganyago The Presidency 🇿🇦 this insistence on austerity will drive this country into socio-political crisis&fascism! U’re under funding crucial services& will act surprised when masses vote in right wing ethno nationalists! 1/3

What will it take for you to abandon austerity/ try a different approach Enoch Godongwana National Treasury Lesetja Kganyago SA Reserve Bank The Presidency 🇿🇦?! I’m asking seriously, do u want to see SA collapse into fascism?! How much analysis must folks like @DumaGqubule do before u ACT? 3/3

The domkop xenophobes dont care. They blame 5% of the population and are suddenly all economists who say we cant afford to invest in healthcare, roll out NHI and develop a world class system. We must blame govt for irrational austerity. We have about 20k doctors for 53m people

@DumaGqubule (@dumagqubule) 's Twitter Profile Photo

The domkop xenophobes must just admit that for them this is not about healthcare or economics. they just hate foreigners and want them to go.

Mphiliseni kaMfungelwa Sithole (@mphil_sithole) 's Twitter Profile Photo

maps Because they’re scapegoating. Xenophobic hate is driving that action. Have you seen improvements in the few days or weeks that they’ve been chasing these foreigners? I’m asking in particular about hospitals & clinics where they’ve been preventing these foreigners not to enter.

Mphiliseni kaMfungelwa Sithole (@mphil_sithole) 's Twitter Profile Photo

maps I know that in Musina, you may find a hospital with half the patients being foreign nationals because it’s next to a Beitbridge, and if that was a feature in our hospitals generally I would’ve understood. But it’s not the case. What drives this anti-foreigners campaign then?

There are a number of layers to the current public discourse on the status of the ANC, but one thing that is readily apparent is how dramatically its position as hegemon has declined.

For those arguing the #Trump #Tariffs are punishment for South Africa’s redress & transformation agenda please explain what the 13 other countries, who also got a #TrumpLetter yesterday, did to offend him? Including key allies Japan & South Korea: 25% Japan 25% Korea 25% Tunisia

If your parent or grandparent receives a pension grant and you supplement it monthly, the geniuses at SASSA suspend the grant because of “additional income”. We are led by fools. Do they expect people to survive entirely on that pittance from the State?
