Data centers affect electricity prices. proven here: provides strong evidence that the “cloud” has real price effects in power markets, not just abstract infrastructure impacts. #txlege papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cf…

House State Affairs witness in #txlege says he’s unaware of data centers’ air pollution impacts. It's wide ranging: PEC found one VA data center's on-site power could cost up to $99M/year in health damages & expose millions to harmful toxins. pecva.org/wp-content/upl…

“Data centers are no louder than lawnmowers” is false. Quiet Coalition says residents near Virginia data centers describe an “eerie hum” that gets louder at night—like an airplane engine, freight train, or leaf blower. #txlege

“No threat” to Texas water systems? That’s not what the research shows #txlege. UCR's Shaolei Ren says the issue isn’t just total gallons used, but the new peak-day capacity, pipes, treatment, and storage local utilities may have to build for data centers. arxiv.org/abs/2603.02705

We are giving them tax breaks, building the infrastructure with tax dollars., and raising utility rates on Texans. This article doesn’t come close to covering the true cost to Texans.

Texas is on track to forego over $3 billion in sales tax revenue in just two years. There are more than 300 already operational in the state, with another 142 data centers under construction.

The backlash against data centers is due, in part, to lack of trust in AI/Big Tech. A recent Gallup survey found 80% of the public wants to slow down AI development, & “Only 2% of US adults ‘fully’ trust AI’s capability to make fair and unbiased decisions.”

Data centers will have a very hard time convincing me they are good for the state of Texas! Meantime they will be dolling out tons of cash to lawmakers who only care about one thing: cash. eedition.houstonchronicle.com/infinity/artic…

We do not want these AI data centers. They are dumping nitrates into the water supply and turbo cancers and infertility are ramping up in places where they’ve been built. You need to be getting heavily involved in your state on this issue.

🚨NEW ANALYSIS🚨 14 states and scores of localities fail to disclose how much revenue they lose to data center tax breaks. Yet such losses are known to be soaring in states that do disclose, with three states already losing $1 billion or more per year. 🧵 goodjobsfirst.org/data-center-ta…

BREAKING: Maryland is about to become the first state in the nation to ban the use of surveillance data and dynamic pricing at grocery stores. The Maryland House has just passed the Protection from Predatory Pricing Act. Governor Wes Moore plans to sign the bill.

States and localities are hiding how much they’re spending on data center tax breaks, while publicly available information indicates a potential money pit.

Notice what Kevin O'Leary aka Mr. Wonderful didn't list? Tax exemptions. Research from Harvard Business School and Rice University confirms it: data centers pick locations based on electricity costs, network connectivity, and infrastructure. Not tax subsidies. And yet Virginia is handing them

Now that you have read each bill line by line, it’s time to focus on the budget. Your Secretary of Finance says that we need more revenue and the House budget is negative by $400M in the out years. That’s not fiscally responsible and won’t happen on my watch.

Having served with 10 Governors, I know anyone worried about the budget would consider which path gives stability and affordability to Virginians. The Senate budget asks the wealthiest corporations to pay sales tax just like every other business in Virginia. They can afford it.
