#Breaking: The USC Student Health vaccinations scheduled at the Lyon Center for April 15 and 16 will now be Pfizer first doses. Tuesday’s announcement follows U.S. FDA and CDC’s recommendation to temporarily stop administering the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.

The current pause comes after six reported cases of a rare and severe type of blood clot found in individuals after receiving the Johnson & Johnson vaccine. Nearly seven million people in the United States have received the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.

#Breaking: All students traveling to Los Angeles will be expected to take a coronavirus test within three days of arrival, which must be completed by Aug. 22, Chief Health Officer Dr. Sarah Van Orman announced in a communitywide email Monday.

#Breaking: A USC student has tested positive for the Omicron variant, Chief Health Officer Sarah Van Orman said in a student media briefing Monday. The student, who is the second confirmed case of the variant in Los Angeles County, traveled to the east coast for the holidays.

The student, who tested through the University’s surveillance testing program, is fully vaccinated, has mild symptoms and is self-isolating.

The student also did not attend classes or campus activities during the infectious period. Those in close contact with the individual were notified and are quarantining, according to an update on the USC COVID-19 Resource Center website the same day.
