…and there it is

This was the underlying goal all along right?

GMC are planning for PAs to do a shortened course to become doctors?!

I’m horrified! There’s a reason medical school has such competitive entry & long standardised training

We’re witnessing the next Post Office

All locum GPs - please fill out the survey.

🔹GP locums are facing difficulties obtaining work. BMA needs data to raise awareness & lobby on this issue through election period.

🕰️ Survey closes 9th June.
✅ All responses anonymised.

Totally shocked having watched this video.

A GP Registrar has 7-10 years of training/experience and is a qualified doctor yet supervision requirements of a PA with 2 years of training are the same?

PAs can do most of what a GP can do?

Dangerous nonsense.

⚠️ The last 15 seconds of this is so telling

Whilst laughing he says:

‘Scope of practice says you can’t, but there’s a nice little grey sentence that says ‘unless you develop local governance. So we’ve taken that…[laughs]’

Clowns.

It is crystal clear that the GMC have been aware of, and have no issue with, trusts utilising 'grey areas' to do whatever they like with scope when it comes to PAs

They even promote it

Absolutely damning

Bookmark this video, it'll feature in the inquiry

So once GMC regulation PAs/AAs starts, & prescribing rights (and ordering x-rays) inevitably follow - what’s the point in a medical degree, post grad anaesthetic training & exams??

There is a quicker & easier way to be an “anaesthetist” that the NHS is seemingly ok with 🤯

People have asked me to set up a crowdfund, so I've done so here. If you are able to give, thank you. If not - no worries (but please share this thread!)

But PAs are not replacing doctors………. How is a lumbar puncture on a (very likely unwell) child a core skill for a PA? 🤯

Schrödinger's GPs! Simultaneously too few and too many. Only the UK government could manage to create this sort of debacle.

Hard to argue with any of this. RCGP please take note and start unpicking this mess - it’s going to take more than a survey of members.

Our favourite lanyard friend

‘ we complete an undergraduate science degree then decide that we want to work in medicine ‘

So we enrol on the GEM … nope we decide to do PA studies which is NOT medicine

Does the PA exam with a 100% pass rate test general medical knowledge?

Neena Jha It's easy. It was our own elected 'leaders' who ignored front line GPs in pushing this through.

They signed the deal before GPs could vote. This was intentional. Don't google where they are now. Don't...really don't.

Phil Smith It’s been so clear for so many years that the intention was always to deregulate medicine with the aim of cost saving. The worst bit about it all is the senior medics and supposedly independent institutions that have enabled govt policy.

The BMA needs to keep fighting against this invasion and score creep for the sake of the medical profession.

PAs might have a role in the NHS but it
