Our forecast of the atmospheric CO2 rise for 2024 is out 🧵 To limit global warming to 1.5°C, the build-up of CO2 in the air would need to stop very soon But with a rise of 2.84 ± 0.54 ppm expected this year, there's no sign that the CO2 rise is slowing metoffice.gov.uk/research/clima…

As we would expect in an El Niño year, not only global T rising faster, but CO2 itself rises faster. While the ENSO effect is temporary, the ongoing build up from (increasing) fossil fuels results in yet more global warming and impacts
