How do we expect to keep educators relevant when they are so resistant to change? The system for Professional Development is not working. #EdChat

Might as well play the draft...heavy defense with key DT and CB while adding speed and depth. Oh and if Cook fails to realize most of his touchdowns and yds were because the defense spied #17 or with jumbo set, we get help at RB.

In every school, there are two kinds of people: Those who lift others up. And those too busy trying to outshine them. 🔥 One fuels the mission. ❌The other fractures it. Culture doesn’t lie. It reflects us.

This is true far too often. Not willing to change when the system for student learning is broken but is comfortable for the adults.

Class sizes popping up again. Reducing them is 0.14 Effect Size or 1/4 year's learning What's 3x more effective? Peer assessment: 0.52 Scaffolding: 0.52 Mainstreaming: 0.52 Self-regulation: 0.52 More about what we do with who's in the room rather than how many there are.

Here is your yearly reminder that the greatest of High School Coaches are not necessarily the ones winning state titles, but the ones toiling far from the bright lights to make a difference in a kids life! Coaching should be about changing a kid's stars!

Growing up I didn't have the best attention span. I always did fairly well in school, but I could have learned so much more. There is one thing I wish that all my teachers used in every classroom k-12. this one thing is... Use mini white boards every single day

There is only so much instructional time per day. I will be presenting on how to get the most out of vocabulary instruction including morphology by weaving it through the school day through spelling, novel study, reader's theater, science, social studies, math, and more.

Grade inflation and low expectations are real. Take two advanced algebra classes taught by two different teachers. Students' grades for the year are similar but there is a notable difference in expectations. Results come out for NYS final and one class gets destroyed. #wonderwhy

To be on the cutting edge as a school leader these days all you have to do is come out in favor of just focusing on instruction.

“The root cause [of grade inflation] was…the lack of safeguards. Everyone benefitted: pupils were doing better, teachers were adding value, schools were celebrating... It was the pupils, who went into the real world to discover that the grades on their certificates were not

When hiring a superintendent, school boards should pay more attention to student outcomes and the # of Twitter followers candidates have, versus what references say. Some people are more interested in being seen than in doing the work needed to create breakthrough performance.

With the inconsistencies in NYS exams and curriculum, the removal of Regents exams as a graduation requirment, along with the grade inflation running rampant post pandemic, maybe all schools should do this. Source: Pelham Examiner search.app/kYN1Y

One of my break at the ISKA US Open. Finished 3rd as the lightest HW but 1st in four events, a 2nd and four 3rds. Now onto NorthEastOpen for more and a record attempt to hand break more than 1160 boards in 15 minutes. #ChallengeAccepted #breakingbarriers #ageisjustanumber
