We watch in complete shock as Taliban takes control of Afghanistan. I am deeply worried about women, minorities and human rights advocates. Global, regional and local powers must call for an immediate ceasefire, provide urgent humanitarian aid and protect refugees and civilians.

10 years later and had the pleasure of reuniting with my GeographyCovUni PhD supervisor Nigel Trodd in The Gambia. Had a fascinating day in the field with the 3rd Year BA Geog students and proud that my PhD somewhat lives on with the villages day based in the Foni districts.

The UK-Rwanda rendition deal is based on 2 great and potentially false hopes: 1. That the prospect of detention & deportation will lead to a substantial reduction in the no of boat arrivals. 2. That anyone deported to Rwanda will 'disappear' by moving on to other countries.
