Can we identify the brain mechanisms during multiplication task solving predicting the development of positive math attitudes over time? James Booth and I addressed this exciting question in this paper just published in Child Development! Check it out! doi.org/10.1111/cdev.1…
A post-doctoral position is open in the Brain Development Laboratory focusing on the neural basis of language delay in preschoolers. Please send letter of interest, resume, and contact information for three references to James R. Booth at [email protected] by May 15th.
New paper out! In this paper, Jérôme Prado James Booth and I review the most recent literature showing how subtraction and multiplication tap into different neurocognitive mechanisms and their role in explaining longitudinal gains. Check it out! authors.elsevier.com/a/1fyat8MqMiiu…
Ev (like in 'evidence', not Eve) Fedorenko 🇺🇦 My previous work with James Booth plotted the overlapping of individualized top activated voxels during a phonological awareness task. Visual inspectation seems to show that the overlapping in STG increases from 5 to 7 yo, whereas the overlapping for IFG increases from 7 to 9.
Together with V. Prpic, L. Lugli, and M. Murgia we are co-editing this special issue on numerical cognition in Psychological Research. Spread the word! MCLStrainee link.springer.com/collections/bb…

New paper on subcortical arithmetic - Will Saban & Ivry Laboratories SfN Journals! - Cerebellum: crucial for calculation procedures (stepwise displacement on the mental number line). - Basal ganglia: important for coordinating multi-digit calculations. jneurosci.org/content/early/… UCSF MAC
How do math attitudes interact with socioeconomic status? Our recently published paper found that positive math attitudes are associated with greater frontal activation among high SES children Dr. Ece Demir-Lira James Booth Check this link for free access! authors.elsevier.com/a/1iPRR6TBG1z8Y
Excited to share my new paper with Dr. McDonough! We found that structural integrity and functional connectivity in brain regions linked to arithmetic retrieval are positively associated with financial ability in middle-aged and older adults. Check it out! authors.elsevier.com/c/1kBRJc5NFhoFV
