I saw Cornel West last weekend at Leimert Park speaking at a BLM event and he told us that he had "thug" in him. This political season is going to be a shitshow.

Prof. Natasha McPherson (@drnatmcpherson) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Yeah. He invoked Paul Laurence Dunbar, DuBois and others. He said white supremacy fears black people's capacity for love. That's when I knew it was time to go. Bruh. I'm not in one of your lectures. what is your POLITICAL PLAN to deliver us from this nightmare??

Thank you to the Black Voice News for inviting me to talk about African Americans and the history of rice. The longer article is available at BVN, but this is a brief discussion about rice culture and it's global impact.

This is what I'm saying. Going to Rice Street either as an inmate or picking up your friends is practically a rite of passage in Atlanta (also a relic of Jim Crow). My people never miss.

I've purchased 3 copies in the last few months for some of the children in my life. It's such a beautifully illustrated and informative book written for kids by an historian (and my former student!). My six year old and I have been reading it together.

A few weeks ago, Shennette Garrett-Scott said in her Stuckey Series lecture at UCR that W.E.B. DuBois was a ladies man and I can't stop thinking about it. I always assumed he was bookish and reserved. The more you know.
