Proud of our department’s work on providing instructional staff around the district professional learning opportunities! We are showcasing each of our sessions from yesterday’s sessions every hour on the hour starting at 2pm. Stay tuned... #sdocgoodtogreat

Kicking off our Professional Development showcase is Ms. Doreen Fuentes’ session which covered topics crucial in meeting the needs of our emergent bilingual students such as: language goals, scaffolds, and Can Do Descriptors.

Up next is Ms. Ivonny Garcia’s session for middle and high school teachers. They learned all about using Thinking Maps and cooperative learning strategies to promote student engagement.

A full room of Dual Language teachers using a Thinking Map to organize their thoughts while learning how to make language connections through Metalinguistic and Cross-linguistic strategies. Our paraprofessionals joined us to learn all about instructional practices.

Our last sessions to showcase... Ms. Doris Vazquez, Ms. Luz García, and Ms. Diana Gonzalez!, Pre-teaching for K-5 teachers; Using an AVID Weekly article to create the “We Do” section for pre-teaching.
